The top of the guitar is considered by many to be the most
important aspect of a guitar. Guitar makers have different
specifications for their tops. More expensive guitars will
have their tops shaped and thicknessed to a specific degree
that will change the guitars sound. Also, alot ofwork goes
into bracing the top.
There are two popular guitar top woods, and those are,
spruce and cedar. Many lower end guitars have laminated tops,
that is, the top is made of cheap plywood and a thin strip
of spruice or cedar is layed over top of it.
Spruce and cedar differ tremendously. Spruce creates a more
crisp sound than the mellow cedar.
